Instagram Gem O’ Th’day #5: Troy Brooks

One of the things I most like about his art is that I like it in spite of myself. By that I mean that it’s not…

Normally we get our art filtered through art publications and critics. It comes with the stamp…

Instagram Gem O’ Th’day #2: Alex Grey

Because I find some of the most striking visual art when prowling through people’s Instagram posts. This is the second installment in a series of more brief articles I’m doing revolving around one image by a living artist, taken from an Instagram post. This time I reproduced the whole post, and I’ll also share the…

Instagram Gem O’ Th’day #1: Charlie Immer

Because I find some of the most striking visual art when prowling through people’s Instagram posts. @charlieimmer Don’t be deceived by the comically horrific subject matter, this is a serious and sophisticated achievement in fine art painting. Just stop and notice how the artist — Charlie Immer — has negotiated illusionistic three-dimensional space. Look at…

It took me far more time, effort, and skill just to make the graphic than it did for me to have AI make the digital painting for me.
New art: Misfits of the Metaverse No. 8.
Misfits ot the Metaverse 7.
Graphic I made for my blog post. Everybody seems to know and admire Pulitzer prize winner for art criticism, Jerry Saltz. But he ain't no Robert Hughes. In my latest article I dissect 6 times he face-planted astronomically. Link to my blog in profile, or copy/paste: https://artofericwayne.com/2022/03/12/better-call-saltz-or-not/
Misfits of the Metaverse #6, and the last in the series.
New Art: Misfits of the Metaverse #5 [Francis Bacon & the Death of George Dyer]. It helps is you know the artist Francis Bacon, and the story about how he was talking to George Pompidou about a painting with George Dyer on the toilet, that France had bought, at his retrospective in France, while George Dyer was dead on the toilet in his hotel room.
