These pieces used many layers of text (the most being 300). I used a random number generating program to choose fonts, sizes of fonts, and in some pieces rotation. The pieces were like games, each one with a different set of rules and limitations within which I did my best to make a successful piece.

I like visually and I also like the idea of using lettering, which has a meaning,for an abstract picture, which maybe doesn’t have a meaning.
I’ve also been intrigued by a conversation I had with a Japanese artist who painted ancient Chinese characters that she didn’t know the meaning of. The expression of the character was more important than what it said, but it said something nevertheless and the mere idea that it had meaning was an idea that never left.
