The “Spiritual” in Art for the Intellectually Rigorous

[This is a re-post of an article from two-years ago which I’d forgotten I’d written, but rediscovered while looking for one of the images in it. The “Spiritual” in Art for the Intellectually Rigorous

“Not only is the universe stranger than we think, it is stranger than we can think.” ~ Werner Heisenberg. I recently received an email in which someone addressed the sticky issue of me sometimes using the word spiritual (often in combination with psychedelic like this psychedelic/spiritual) in describing my art. Yes, I realize for most…

New Art: (#13) Spoke an Old Yellow Dog

Today I offer this odd painting with a Symbolist look about it. The title just came to me. The old yellow dog said something? I guess it did. This is weird art or weird art’s sake.

New art: Vehicular Monster Slaughter 01. This one's a collab with AI.
Blue headed tree Agama lizard in the local park. I didn't adjust the color at all or use a filter. That's how nature made him.
It took me far more time, effort, and skill just to make the graphic than it did for me to have AI make the digital painting for me.

Graphic I made for my blog post. Everybody seems to know and admire Pulitzer prize winner for art criticism, Jerry Saltz. But he ain't no Robert Hughes. In my latest article I dissect 6 times he face-planted astronomically. Link to my blog in profile, or copy/paste: https://artofericwayne.com/2022/03/12/better-call-saltz-or-not/
