Some of my pieces in juried digital art exhibition

In order to get exposure I enter some of my work in art contests. One of my pieces (The Human Fly) will be in the next print magazine issue of Direct Art, and several of my pieces were also accepted for Digital Arts: California‘s digital art competition/exhibition Wide Open Digital 2. I was pleasantly surprised…

Awakening Upon Death of the Bride of the Creature: details and analysis

I’m pretty happy with this piece. It blends several of my approaches, resulting in a non-cliched Sci-Fi, mixed with an Impressionist treatment, Baconian distortions, and faux painterly flairs including Van Gogh brush strokes. So, I’m mixing my Fine Art with the Sci-Fi (now “retro”) of my childhood, which represented a window of escape from quotidian…

Game Over, new pencil drawing

I’m not going to say what this is about. Look at it. It’s written in a universal language. I recommend clicking on it and looking at it for at least 30 seconds, otherwise you haven’t even given it a chance or tried to get it. People look at art in a way that is the…

Death, Dissolution, and the Void

Started in 2003, completed in 2006, and touched up in 2012, this may still be my most ambitious piece, and the one I’ve worked the hardest and longest on. As the title suggests, this represents my attempt to depict crossing over to the other side. Essentially, I’ve attempted a digital rendering of something like an…

New art, “Last Seen in Vientiane”

If you saw my last piece, you might be surprised at how different this one is from it. The last one looked like a painting and was all drawn from the imagination on the computer. This one is a very elaborate collage of photographs I took in Vientiane (I’ve lived in Asia for about 7…

New art, The Last Scent

My latest piece, just finished. This one reeks of me. I think anyone who knows my work, and especially my early paintings, would instantly know who was behind this image. I did it completely from my imagination, in a not-so-efficient manner. I tried an experiment of starting with a composition and color scheme I liked,…

Best of my new work

These are my more serious new images. All are digitally created using only Photoshop, my own photos, drawings, and endless tablet work. Bellow the “gallery” are all the same images in standard format. Below are the same images. Some have links to in depth posts about them with close-ups, and background information about the process,…

It took me far more time, effort, and skill just to make the graphic than it did for me to have AI make the digital painting for me.

Misfits ot the Metaverse 7.
Graphic I made for my blog post. Everybody seems to know and admire Pulitzer prize winner for art criticism, Jerry Saltz. But he ain't no Robert Hughes. In my latest article I dissect 6 times he face-planted astronomically. Link to my blog in profile, or copy/paste: https://artofericwayne.com/2022/03/12/better-call-saltz-or-not/
Misfits of the Metaverse #6, and the last in the series.
New Art: Misfits of the Metaverse #5 [Francis Bacon & the Death of George Dyer]. It helps is you know the artist Francis Bacon, and the story about how he was talking to George Pompidou about a painting with George Dyer on the toilet, that France had bought, at his retrospective in France, while George Dyer was dead on the toilet in his hotel room.
