Runaway Rant: the news isn’t new, and the latest urgent conversations took place before I was born

The conversations we are told we so desperately need to have, have already been had, and better, before I was born. Science races forward so fast that the science fiction of my youth has been outstripped in many instances — consider the Starship Enterprise didn’t even have computers that could run Windows — and the…

The Greater Lesson of Jane Eliot’s Sadistic “Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes Experiment” on School Children.

Russel called me names, and I hit him. Hit him in the gut. What did he call you? Brown eyes. I’m sure you’ve heard about Jane Eliot’s infamous Blue eyes/Brown eyes Experiment, hearkening back to a time when we were permitted as a society to conduct social experiments on students for the greater good of…

Runaway Rant: the Danger of Opinion

I wrote this days ago, and then just sat on it, because, an opinion piece about why opinion is inherently an insufficient projection upon reality is self-cancelling. On second thought, that was the point. Reality is boundless and unfathomable, hence any opinions, beliefs, and conclusions about it are mere projections upon it, something to tether…

Runaway Rant: The Problem with “White Privilege”

I like to stick to talking mostly about matters of art, but politics has so infiltrated the art world that you can’t be an artist without being clobbered over the head with certain ideas; and your work and career are evaluated, bolstered, or derailed in accordance with them. One of the biggest, most contentious and…

Today from the archives is a realist digital painting, "Scissors and Ball" from 1/2019.
Today from the archives, "Bat Girl Bites Back", digital painting, 6/ 2020. I feel like this one slipped under the radar and was scarcely noticed by my audience.
Today from the archives, "The Sphynx", digital painting [2017]. This is a rather ecstatic mix of painterliness, Expressionism and Surrealism.
Today's blast from the past is "CEOTK", digital drawing, 2016. This is just drawing without any preconception to see what arises. Some of the details are pretty cool, like the slime dripping from one of hte hands. I made it this square format for IG when I joined up in 2016. I was optimistic about breaking in. Never happened.
Today from the archives, "Seafood Spaghetti Sunday" [Digital painting, 2013]
Today's pic from the archive, "100 Line Experiment". Yes, it's an experimental piece with precisely 100 lines, and a dot. I don't normally do abstract art(actually "non-representational" but everyone says "abstract"), but on occasion I certainly enjoy it. It's kind of like instrumental music.
