Work in Progress

Sooo, here’s your rare glimpse into my process. This is the most fun stage. Here I can just invent. I just look at it and get ideas.

Things to notice. This one has custom fitted glasses. A humorous touch with a nod to comics. Among other things I’m trying to improve how I can suggest something with minimal fuss. Look at the hair. You could spend forever on a bundle like that, but here I’ve suggested it with just some loose strokes. There’s nothing to be gained by overworking it.

Also I’m using rough textures to approximate scales on the fish. It’s more painterly and less tedium.

But, yeah, the fun part is inventing at this stage. Slowly the eyes of the woman migrated onto twin proboscis.
