When I was in community college I had a psychology class, and in the book there was something about split personalities, or right brain/left brain stuff, or something along those lines. I can’t remember the context, but there was a pic of Henry David Thoreau showing what he’d look like if each side of his face were mirrored, and you’d get two very different people in his case. I did find that and the image rather intriguing. Decades later I thought I’d use Photoshop to do the same sort of thing to various famous people. I did about 12 of these back in February, just for fun.
To put that more clearly: one image is the left side of the face mirrored on itself, and the other is the right side.
Then I lost interest or moved on to something else, and now I just came across them again so thought I’d share. Y’know, people like their celebs. [Shhhh. Maybe I can lure them into looking at my real art.]
Oh, and if you’re wondering why there are less women in this, it’s because it’s harder to find pics of them that haven’t been retouched to eliminate just the sorts of things that would be pronounced if you split and mirrored halves of their heads. In order to do this, I need a full-on frontal head shot, and those are usually the kind that end up Photoshopped to begin with.
Oh, and no I’m NOT saying any of these famous people really have split personalities. It’s just an experiment.

Great examples, I reckon George is the only one that looks good/ better on the right? The rest in my opinion are lefties.

Back in the 1960’s I read in a magazine about psychological analysis using these kind of pictures. (They analysed Brigitte Bardot who was celebrity at the time.) I was curious about myself, but as a kid I thought it was difficult to get the photos done. A few years ago, I used photoshop to do this and discovered that my right side is much ‘better’ than the left (which resulted a too thin head).
