Chenggu (NOT Chengdu) is well off the beaten path for travel destinations in China. Foreigners generally wouldn’t go there unless they lived in a slightly less obscure place in China, and went there on a day trip, as I did, in 2007. Obviously there were lifestyles virtually unsullied by the new millennium. And no KFC anywhere (it’s the first Western franchise to hit a city in China. McDonald’s comes long after)!
Love that photo.
