Awekaning-Mindlessness-Blog-Aware

Sometimes I don’t know if I can condone the ideas or comments of J. Sri Bhagovwid, but being as he is my most highly esteemed and apocryphal guru, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt for now. Just as a brief aside, one of the reasons I like him so much is the response he gave to my question, “If gurus are humble, why do they have devotees kiss their feet?” He snorted, “It’s just a stupidity test. If you are not dumb enough to kiss their feet, than they won’t waste their time trying to get you to open your wallet.”

Nevertheless sometimes I argue with JSB, and we bickered about this award. I scolded him (note that, unlike most gurus, he absolutely does NOT demand any respect!):

“You can’t conceive of an award and then just give it to yourself.”

“I’m not giving to myself. I’m giving it to YOU.”
“What the hey did I do to deserve a spiritual award?”
“You had the sublime wisdom to feature guest posts by me.”
“Well then that’s just a roundabout way of giving it to yourself.”
“Do not worry about these details. Why does it matter who gives it to who when we are as leaves on the same tree? Besides which, it is all just a play projected on the inner screen of consciousness.”
“I just don’t think anyone can take this award seriously if you give it to yourself, or another leaf on the same tree on the inner screen of consciousness, or whatever.”
“Seriously? Have you even looked at the award very carefully?”
“Of course, I’m the one who did the graphics, as you well know.”
“It is only as serious as the scowl of the person looking at it, when they should be smiling.”

You can apply for this award, or nominate someone else for it, by submitting the url of your post (or one of someone who’s blog you are nominating) in a reply to this post. Your post must be an original and unconventional writing about a mystical or transcendent topic. You should also write a sentence or two introducing what your post is about. You should be fully aware of the ironic and hyperbolic nature of the award, which renders it inappropriate for anyone who takes his or her egoic self all-too-seriously. It is, after all, bequeathed by “the Funny Guru”. On the other hand, there is some truth in all humor, and the award rewards some serious cleansing of the proverbial doors of perception, or to put it more simple, it’s for something more-or-less enlightening.

NOTE: IF YOU ARE NOMINATING SOMEONE ELSE FOR THE AWARD, MAKE SURE THEY ACTUALLY WANT IT FIRST. OTHERWISE YOU WASTE JSB’S TIME FOR NAUGHT (and who want’s that karma?).

Whether one gets it or not is up to JSB. If you receive the award you will be provided with instructions on how to add it to your sidebar.
